My second teaching Class

My second teaching class

Well, this time was a Little bit different. I was secure of myself in what things I was going to do. First of all, I prepared my class and I started with a warm-up playing the activity “whispering the sentence” I divided the class into two groups. Then, I asked the students to stand up and form a line for each group in front of the board.
I had in my hands two different sentences per each group. I was going to whisper one sentence to the last student and this one had to whisper the sentence until the first student and this one had to write the sentence on the board. The students got the idea, but then I got worried because in a moment it was difficult for other student to remember the sentence even though those were short sentences. I asked them to write what they remembered and they did it so.
Then, I asked them to open their books and work in an exercise completing the chart with some information. The students were taking too much time to do this activity and I was worried because of the time. I demanded them to complete the chart by seen my example.  I drew the chart on the board and explained that to them filling the first space. They took more than the expected time for this activity and I had to help them for them to finish the chart.
After this activity I passed to a listening that was a short conversation. I played it the first time. I demanded them only to listen to. Then I said open your books and read and listen at the same time and so on the third time. In this time they had to complete the missing information. Then, I started to read it and I asked them to repeat after me. They did it as I demanded but the problem was that the time finished and I could not finish the last activity which was the basis of my objective. But at the end everything was fine.

  1. I understand your situation, the same happened to me in my first class, we need to be more carefully with the time that we use for developing the activities, don´t worry, you will improve for the next time. I know that you make a big effort. I really like the activities that you use specially the listening and reading activites even could be useful instead teaching grammar explanations. Blessings!! :)

  2. I think that most of us had faced this problem in the classroom. We expect to finish all the activities that we have planned, and we also think that students will do the activities without any problem, and when we develop them, we notice that students were not able to do it. This is something frustrated for most of us, but most of the time we have to birng a plan B because we never know what will happen. I think that the activities take time depending on the kind of level that you have, as well because if you have Basic Level you know that they work slowly because they do not know too much. So we have to be careful and see what they can do, and what they cannot do. Therefore, Dany it does not happened just to you, many of us had lived this and it is difficul to deal with times. As I told you we never know. Just go ahead and continue doing your best as most of us are doing. I really like the way in which you developed the listening activity. Let me tell you that in my fisrt practice I did a listening activity in which I got frustrated. i played the listening and i did not ask to listen first, and it made me to have problems at the end because when i asked them for the respective answers, they did not have them. I played it like three times, but they did not get it. Until I played it sentence by sentence. It was a good experience that will make me to become better....So go ahead and just see others problems and you will see that you are not the only one that is facing these problems with students.
