MY THIRD TEACHING
CLASS.
Jose Daniel Medina

Well, I felt so excited and nervous
for this class. To start, I had been sick during the whole week. I got a hard
flue and an awful cough, and also I had not sleep well the night before. Mo matter,
I prepared my class and tried to do it in the best way I could. Firstly, I prepared
a warm up with an activity called “What am I/ am I not/ doing?” because the
topic was Present Continuous Tense.
I asked for two students to be volunteers and to
come to the front and to guess what the sentences were. I asked both students a
boy and a girl to sit down one in each desk located in front of the students
and having the board in the back. Then, the rest of the class had to mimic what
the sentence said, and the two students had to say aloud the right sentence. At
the end, the girls were the winners.
Shortly after, I went to explain the part of
grammar. I started with pasting a chart on the board, a chart done by myself. This
chart contained the elements to build questions using present continuous tense.
Also, the chart contained some example which were so helpful at the moment of
teaching this topic.
After this, I presented some pictures for they
to tell me a question and a possible answer. It was interesting because with
this I could notice if they had understood the part of grammar that I had
already explained to them.
I was glad because the students showed me that
they had understood the topic. So after that, I went to another activity. This
activity was about to complete the blanks on a work sheet. I did it because I wanted
to support the topic that was Present continuous Tense Questions. They did it
awesomely, however, I make the students to tell me the right answers and then
to repeat after me.
Afterward, they had to create a short
conversation, and they had to put into practice the previous knowledge as well
as the actual. At the end when they finish creating the conversation, I did
pieces of paper that contained YES and NO. The pairs that got Yes had to pass
to the front to perform the conversation. And so finally, three pairs were going
to pass to perform the conversation and in this way my class concluded. I was
glad and with brief words I said to the students “thanks for behaving great and
for learning from my classes”. So I finished and the teacher said to me “awesome,
you did it awesome this time”. Finally I went out of the classroom because the
students had a listening test.
undoubtedly you did it awesome Daniel!!!!!! I was not in your classroom but I can see that your students participated and practice what they were learning. It is good to know that you have gotten a good grade for giving an awesome class. I think we will never stop learning, and learning the best ways in which students can be involved in the cclass and learn something new everyday. These kind of topics might be easy for some students but they might be hard for some others, so, as teachers we have to be careful and make sure that all the students have understood the topic.
ResponderEliminarDaniel, you did it!!! Congrats because to hear that from teachers is incredible. I guess you sickness was not a trouble for you this time. I like the second activity in which you presented some pictures since this kind of material really help students especially if they are visual learners. Your class was great Daniel, keep doing your best!
ResponderEliminarDany, excellent job thought you were sick you could achieve your goal that was to develop your class well. It was awesome that the students participate in your class. I really like that you did different activities to teach your students. I like that you did a chart with examples as that helped students to develop the other exercises. It was like a guide for students. Keep doing your best.
ResponderEliminarHi Dani, I understand that you were sick the previous week before teaching, and it is hard to teach when sometimes we don not sleep the whole night, but anyway we don not know what can happen to us. You started the class by doing the warm up activity, and then you explained them the grammar points, and you are very creative since not to all practitioners like to work with charts, so you included some examples of the topic. So when you finished of explaining them , yo asked them things related with the topic to make sure that they had understood. So you developed many activities, and that is good because students put in practice what you explained them, I think that students enjoy the class when they feel happy. I mean that when students are sick or have personal problems, they can understand better the class when teachers give them confidence and teach students positively. Blessings.
